Stormie Andrews – Quote from book
“By applying, ‘Stormie’s Communication Nation,’ you can imporve your life, generate more sales, and build rapport more quickly, all by improving your level of communication with business associates and loved ones.”
The Idea Girl Says;
Stormie has developed a technique that can change your life. As a sales person you will learn how to communicate effectively with potential clients and create a sense of trust between you and them. Not only will this help you achieve your sales goals, it will help improve your relationships with your co-workers and family.
quote from the book
“To become the powerful communicator that you know you can be, you need an insight into how your brain processes information.”
the idea girl says
I must learn to be effective with what I say to people. I know I can but how do I do it? Stormie will teach me how the brain works, so that I can learn to communicate with anyone that I speak too.
quote from the book
“Once you are able to identify how others think and process information, you will have the ability to understand them with clarity. You will gain a better understanding of Visual, Auditory and Kinesthetic thinking patterns.”
the idea girl says
Stormie Andrews says that he can teach me how to identify with others and learn what is going on in their head. I will understand what they say to me at any given time. In this chapter I will learn what Visual, Auditory and Kinesthetic thinking patterns are and how they relate to communication skills.
quote from the book
“To be A successful communicator, you must understand the difference between the conscious and non-conscious minds.”
the idea girl says
This is news to me, I’ve known about these two things but had no idea that they were a part of communicating with another person.
Quote from the book
“Anything that you are currently aware of at this very moment is part of your conscious mind and thoughts.”
the idea girl says
Stormie says that you are aware of the things directly around you. This is what they call the conscious mind.
quote from the book
“Your non-conscious mind is everything else-what you’re not aware of right now.”
the idea girl says
I am not aware of what is going on inside of my body. The fact that I know how to type these words without thinking and not bothering to look at the keyboard this is all part of my non-conscious mind.
quote from the book
“Researchers shows that words typically account for just seven percent of their message.”
the idea girl says
this is a shock, what I say to people only registers with seven percent of their brain.
quote from the book
“The tone of one’s voice make up about 38 percent.”
the idea girl says
many times people think I’m mad when I talk because I am so focused on what I am doing. Usually I am annoyed about something I am trying to think about so that comes across in a tone of anger. This can turn some people off when you talk to them. They automatically think that you are mad at them, when it’s the furthest thing from your mind.
quote from the book
“Body language, such as our posture, gestures, and eye contact, account for about 55 percent.”
the idea girl says
an example is talking to a receptionist face to face. She is slouched over her desk, answering you in monotone syllables. You get the feeling she doesn’t give two hoots about what you are saying to her.
quote from the book
“The more energy the other person spends on translating your message, the less computing power they have to grasp what you are saying.”
the idea girl says
Now I know why some people ‘exhaust’ me when they talk to me. I’m taking time to figure out what they mean.
quote from the book
Stormie Andrews says, “Improve your effectiveness by making your message easy for others to comprehend and understand.”
the idea girl says
Since the car accident I have twice as much trouble computing what someone is saying to me. It takes awhile for the thoughts to process on my fuzzy brain days. That’s a term you will see on my twitter the idea girl and on facebook. If I am having a bad day brain wise and cannot think straight, type properly then I call it my ‘fuzzy brain’ day. Stormie teaches you techniques on how to say things effectively to other people so that they have a clear understanding of the message you are giving.
Last of all quote from the book, Stormie says,
“When Speaking to groups, make sure you incorporte a nice mix of Visual, Auditory, and Kinesthetic words. This type of mix will keep your audience in tune with your message, allowing your vision to be absorbed by more participants.”
the idea girl says
A teacher can learn lots from Stormie Andrews thoughts on Visual, Auditory and Kinesthetic words, so can a key note speaker, author and business person. The reason I blog about the Power of the Platform – Speakers on Success is because it has changed my life for the better. I am doing the book reviews chapter by chapter so that I can focus on the lessons learned from each author.
Stormie Andrews teaches you how to communicate effectively in this chapter. What I have shared here is only the tip of the iceberg.
