Betty’s Kitchen Chocolate Silk Frosting REcipe Video

Betty demonstrates how to make Chocolate Silk Frosting. This frosting may be used for cakes or cupcakes.

1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
½ cup half-and half (This is half milk, half cream.)
1 cup butter
2 ½ cups confectioner’s sugar (This is the same as powdered sugar or icing sugar.)

In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips, ½ cup half-and half, and 1 cup butter. Cook over medium heat, stirring continually until mixture is melted and smooth. Remove from heat and set saucepan in a large bowl of ice cubes. Use an electric mixer on medium speed to beat in 2 ½ cups confectioner’s sugar until frosting is spreadable and holds its shape. Remove saucepan from bowl of ice cubes and spread cake or cupcakes with a spreader (or for cupcakes, pipe in circles around the top). This amount of frosting will frost a three-layer cake or 36 cupcakes. I hope you love this frosting! –Betty 
