Betty’s Kitchen Shortbread for Valentine’s Day Birthdays Anniversaries Entertaining Recipe Videos

you can just use different shapes for other seasonal party ideas as well!

Betty demonstrates how to make Shortbread for Valentine’s Day. This would make a great last-minute choice, if you want to impress someone special to you. It is quick and easy and has very few ingredients, yet looks elegant and dramatic.

1 cup butter, softened
½ cup confectioner’s sugar (This is the same as powdered sugar or icing sugar.)
2 cups all-purpose flour
sugar (colored sugar for special occasions)

Cream 1 cup softened butter until light, using medium speed of an electric mixer. Gradually add ½ cup confectioner’s sugar and beat until light and fluffy. Stir in 2 cups all-purpose flour, until completely incorporated. (Dough will be stiff.) Press dough into a 15-inch by 10-inch by 1-inch jelly roll pan. Prick dough evenly with a fork. Bake at 375 degrees (F) for 5 minutes. Reduce heat to 300 degrees (F) and bake an additional 10 to 20 minutes. Shortbread is done when it starts to turn golden brown.

Remove from oven and place pan on a cooling rack. Wait about 2 minutes, and then sprinkle with sugar. (You may use colored sugar for special occasions, such as red for Valentine’s Day.) Next, immediately start cutting shortbread into desired shapes.

You may cut into squares, rectangles, or diamond shapes, or you may use cookie cutters for special occasions, as in the heart-shaped Shortbread for Valentine’s Day. Place cut cookies on a cooling rack. Cool. Place on a nice serving plate to serve. I hope you enjoy this recipe! Happy Valentine’s Day! Love, Betty ♥♥♥♥♥
