Betty’s kitchen Basic Buttermilk Biscuits Recipe Video

Betty demonstrates how to make Basic Buttermilk Biscuits. These are perfect for making country ham biscuits, using Baked Country Ham from bettyskitchen. They are also great with butter and/or preserves.

½ cup butter
2 cups self-rising flour
¾ cup buttermilk
cooking oil spray
2 tablespoons butter, melted

Cut ½ cup butter into 2 cups self-rising flour with a pastry blender or food processor. Continue until the mixture resembles coarse cornmeal. Add ¾ cup buttermilk. Stir gently until dry ingredients are moistened. Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead 3 or 4 times. Roll dough to ¾-inch thickness. Cut with a 2-inch biscuit cutter.

Place on a baking sheet that has been sprayed with cooking oil spray. Bake at 425 degrees (F) for 12 to 15 minutes. Brush with melted butter and transfer Basic Buttermilk Biscuits to a nice serving plate. Serve as desired. This recipe should make 12 biscuits. Enjoy! –Betty 
