Betty demonstrates how to make Bacon Chocolate Chip Cookies. Since these cookies are chocolate-flavored before adding the chocolate chips, they could be called Bacon Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies!

1 cup butter, softened
1 ½ cups sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
¾ teaspoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
6 slices crisp bacon, crumbled (You may omit the bacon or substitute ½ cup chopped pecans, if you prefer.)

In a large bowl, place 1 cup softened butter. Add 1 ½ cups sugar and beat until light and fluffy using an electric mixer on medium speed. Beat in 2 eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in 2 teaspoons vanilla. In a separate bowl, stir together 2 cups all-purpose flour, 2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, ¾ teaspoon baking powder, and ¼ teaspoon salt.

Add flour mixture to butter/sugar mixture. Stir in 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips and 6 slices crisp, crumbled bacon. Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of cookie dough into 1-inch balls and place on ungreased cookie sheets or baking pans.

Flatten each ball of dough slightly. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes at 350 degrees (F). Let stand about 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely. Transfer from cooling racks to a nice serving platter. YUM! I hope you enjoy these chocolate-y cookies! –Betty ♥♥♥♥♥
